Okay, guys! I'm back. I have a Reuben for Daniella,

*sits plate down on table*

Cookies (sugar, peanut butter, and chocolate chip), Pies (blueberry, apple, cherry), and Cobbler (peach) for Kale.

*laughs maniacally*

Eat up! Kale, I believe your training is about to start.

Uhhh...

*picks up a chocolate chip cookie and bites into it*
*chews slowly*

I don't know, but they're damn good, if I do say so myself.

I remember, you used to get SICK eating candy when we were little. Especially chocolate.

And yes, yes you did. One time you came home from daycare... it's one of the only memories I have... you had eaten all of the Easter candy we were given, and you were sick as a dog! You threw up the rest of the day! We were so worried about you, Mama even called a doctor! But the first thing you asked when you woke up the next morning was;

"Is there any more candy?"

Their names?

Marco Sergio Catania, and Maria Daniella Catania. I never found out Mama's maiden name, no matter where I looked. I think her family was lost in a war, and there are some orphanage records from her childhood. You were named after her, though. I was named for our Grandmother, on Father's side.

They met at the store where Papa worked as a teenager. She was staying with the Manager and his family. She worked for them, cleaned their house.... and they let her stay with them. She came in to deliver some lunch to the Manager, and they ended up talking. They went out on a few dates and hit it off. Papa got a job at a warehouse and bought a small apartment. Then they had you.

Papa had to get another job after you were born, so he worked day shift at the warehouse, and at night he worked as a bartender. Times were really hard. But thanks to his work, they were able to afford a medium-size house. The Manager passed away, and left Mama the store; his son had been disowned. They ran the store together until the accident.

They were nice people. Mama was always cooking or cleaning something... she never sat still for a moment. But she was a happy woman. Papa was a drunk, but he was a happy drunk. He used to come in smelling like whiskey or rum... Sometimes brandy. His face would get rosy, like Santa Claus. And sometimes he'd bring us toys from the store. Things that they hadn't been able to sell.

*smiles*
They sound like they were good people.

What's your favorite childhood memory?

My favorite would have to be Christmas. The one right before the incident. Mama was in the kitchen, making a huge turkey, because neither of us could stand to eat ham. She made pies and cookies... our house smelled like gingerbread for weeks! And all of our neighbors stopped by. They were poor, and Mama would sneak things out of the store for them, like toys and food. You had a crush on the neighbor's little boy, and he always used to pull your hair....

I got a teddy bear for Christmas, and you got a puppy. I was so jealous, until they told you that you had to share. Then you were jealous, because it was like I got two presents and you only got one. So Mama took my bear, and somehow made two from it. She was an amazing woman; handy with a needle and thread, as well as in the kitchen. And she could draw so well.

What's your favorite human memory?

My favorite human memory...

The day my daughter was born. Approximately five years before I was changed.
Times were different then. There weren't any hospitals or any technology. Babies were born in houses, with the neighbors help. And sometimes, the mothers didn't survive.

But my wife did survive, and so did my baby girl. She was my pride and joy. I wish I could have been in her life more... but I knew I couldn't be near her after I changed. She thought I had died. I was a ghost to her.

*nods*

Is she still alive? Have you ever thought about going back to talk to her?
