Paris: The Adams Brothers Meet Miss Scarface

She smiled then. "I'll do what ever you want me to, if reasonable. As I told Will I'm a trained assassin. I worked for years as one until I moved in with my mom who didn't tell me till my dad came," she hissed the last part, not really meaning to. "You could teach me they art of dragging it out, I'm admit I'm not good at dragging things out. If you want me to prove that I am I will, I don't have a problem with that." She uncrossed her arms so that they were at her sides. She shoved one in her pocket and fingered the blade again. It was under the jacket but that didn't make it less sharp.

He let silence blanket the room for a moment. "I believe you, child. But do you really believe you can trust me? After all, I've been on this earth almost since the beginning, and I've learned quite a bit."

He stood and finally faced the girl, revealing a pale face with Greek features and a long scar stretching from above his eyebrow, down the side of his face, ending by the corner of his mouth. "You see, creatures such as we learn through mistakes." He gestured at the scar. "You see this? I received it from a very important man in history, a man from Macedonia that you may know by the name of Alexander."

His pale blue eyes pierced hers. "I will help you so long as you contribute. You will make mistakes, as I did, and you will, in turn, learn the proper path to take. If you hold onto what you have now, there is no hope of you moving on. Am I clear?"

Silence was still across the room. She waited until he spoke. he asked if she trusted him, the answer to that was no. Not fully anyway. Then he turned towards her. His greek feachers showing. A scar above on eye like no other, she had one but she wasn't showing it. It was under her shirt from the right arm pit down to her waist, that scar was one she was never going to forget.

She stared back into his eyes, not scared or even fear kissed. "You are very clear sir," she said with her voice even. A piece of hair had fallen in her eyes, she brushed it behind her ear. "The more mistakes I have the more I learn."

A thought occurred to her. She wondered if he had ever met Leo Scarface, a man that was almost as old as he was. The man that basically raised her. "Sir have you ever heard of Leo Scarface," she asked looking down pondering the thought.

He picked up the book again, walking over to a bookshelf and trading it for another volume, taking his time walking about the room. "I have met many in my lifetime." He looked her over, deciding he could bother with an answer this once. "Yes, I have."

He strolled to the window. "Ah, look, the sun is coming up." His hand reached up to open the heavy curtains, and light penetrated the dark room. "'And God said, Let there be light, and there was light.'" His eyes flashed to her again. Then he held out the Bible in his hand to her. "I want you to read this. Read Genesis and come back to tell me how you believe our kind was created."

So he had. That was shy his name was familiar, she had heard Leo talk about it. Huh. She never thought she would met the man but yet here she was. She watched him go over to the book shelf and trade books. He same and held out a Bible for her to take. She took it from his hands and held it. She had read it before but his orders wouldn't hurt. She would come up with a answer, she hopped. She had one already but she knew it wouldn't suffice.

She looked over at the light that was coming in the room from the window. "Another gift as some put it," she she said her voice soft,"or just another living nightmare as other do."

He nodded, opening another book on his desk. "After you've read that and given me a sufficient answer that shows me you have taken the time and thought required to complete the task, I will teach you what you need to learn."

His gaze lifted from the book. "Leave me. I have work to do."

She nodded and left the room. Just another busy man, but that was on the outside. On the inside he was much more complex. She would have to use her brain to get through this, not that it was a problem.

She headed out with the book in hand, the boys no where to be seen at the moment.She took this time to open the Bible and start off with Chapter one. It was Something she remembered reading not to long ago but this time she would take her time to read it. Analyze it, think about it.

Will popped up behind her. 'Watcha reading?'

He flipped a coin while he waited for her to answer.

She hit will with the back of her hand square in the chest. "Don't sneak up on me," she muttered. "I tend to hit."

She turned and looked at him. She didn't hit him hard enough to do anything. She marked her page with her finger and held the book up. "The Bible."

"I'm not sure why but I like to think," she looked at at him. She looked at the page number then closed the book, taking her finger out. "Odd thing is I did know him a little bit."

She looked at the coin in his hands. "Heads," she said. "Unless it is a double sided coin then both because well that way I'm guarantied to win."

He winked and held the coin between his index and middle finger, showing her both sides--two heads. 'Smart girl.'

'How do you know him?' He flipped the coin. 'Looks like you win.'

She smiled at him. "How many girls do you trick into doing what ever with that coin," she laughed. "Family ties knew him. I was told about him when I was young and reckless. The exact words were 'if you don't shape up I'll send for Sodom so he can straighten you out.'"

She smiled at Leo saying that three years after he made her. Then she was scared but after a while the threat died and she wanted to met the man who was going to straighten her out.

He chuckled. 'Now, if I told you that, you'd never let me try it again.'

'That's a fitting threat, I suppose. He keeps things in order, like he thinks it's his mission or something.'

She laughed. "But I'll remember and I really don't care about the other girls but alright."

"Fitting I was raised with that threat of him coming. It worked, but now I'm not scared of him. He does have my respect though."

He shrugged. 'As long as you're willing to tell the truth and do what he asks of you, you shouldn't have to be afraid of him.'

'You know, he bases what he asks of you on what he thinks you need to learn.' Will looked her over.

'What do YOU need to learn? Well, I mean.. what you think you need to learn isn't always what HE thinks is what you need to learn.. but I'm curious.'

She looked down at the Bible in her hands. What did he want her to learn. "Right now Will I don't know what I need to learn," she opened the Bible again. "More or likely it has something to do with mistakes."

She looked back up at Will. "I don't even think he knows my name," she shrugged. "He is a smart man. But I refuse to follow him around like a dog."

Will rolled his eyes and mumbled. 'If you've heard of him, I'm sure he's heard of you. He has an odd way about him like that.'

'You know, Donnovan would never tell me what he had to do..' He shrugged. 'Oh well.'

"Eh if he has, he has," she smiled at him.

"What did you have to," she asked reading. She had read it all but why not again...oh yeah she didn't want to. "I'm curious. And your brother has the right to keep to himself."

'Well, Sodom figured that I should learn how to follow instructions and live within limits, so he had me build Da Vinci's flying machine.' He laughed. 'It wasn't exactly EASY, but it was worth the time and worth the effort. I learned a lot just building that machine.'

"Oh I always loved Da Vinci," she muttered. She looked back up at him. "Does that mean you can read backwards and in Latin now?" She went back to looking at her book. "I'm suppose to come up with an answer on how our kind was made. I know there isn't a trace of us in the Bible but hey. I feel I'm going to be spending a lot of time in a tree thinking."

He smiled. 'Teaching is what he loves to do, so you'd be surprised what he's taught my brother and me.'

'And Da Vinci wasn't able to write in Latin, miss. He was a craftsman, not a scholar. He wrote in Italian, which I can tell you is much easier to learn than Latin.'

'Take your time with whatever you're doing. Sodom won't mind how long it takes you, so long as you get it done.'

"Ah that is right," she said. "I have Latin on the brain. It is easy to learn if you have the time to take." She closed the book again. She was starting to get bored with it. "French is a language you should learn. It is wonderful and makes for a good love talk, but what good it did me." She laughed a bit. "I'm single and I live in France. Go figure."

Will chuckled. 'I can't imagine why. I don't recall having seen a more beautiful woman.'

'Now, heads we take a walk, tails you sit in here, cooped up, and I go take a walk.' He flipped the coin again. 'Well, looky there. It's heads.'

He flashed an impish grin. 'I promise I won't try anything dishonorable, miss. You have my word..'

She shook her head but was smiling. Will was that boy that would be able to do that to her but she wasn't looking for love. She had enough of that. Maybe just a teaser.

She put the bible in one hand. "You try anything and you will be dead," she smiled. "But I'm starting to like that coin more and more."
